SWITCH TO ROMANIA Having previously represented both Moldova and Azerbaijan, she switched nationality in 2015 and began competing for Romania. She has Romanian heritage, and has held Romanian citizenship since 2012. (allthingsgym.com, 12 Apr 2016; sports.yahoo.com, 11 Apr 2016)
SANCTIONS In June 2013 she tested positive for the banned substance oxandrolone and was disqualified from the 2013 World Championships in Wroclaw, Poland. She was also sanctioned by the International Weightlifting Federation [IWF], receiving a two-year suspension until June 2015. In 2016 she tested positive for the prohibited substance dehydrochlormethyltestosterone in a post-test of a sample given at the 2012 Olympic Games in London.
